Recipe Scanner helps you turn recipe webpages and photos into a personal recipe collection. This policy explains what information we use and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We process your email address and short-lived sign-in codes when you use passwordless login. If you choose social sign-in, we also receive details such as your name, profile image, and provider ID. We process the recipe URLs, images, text, saved recipes, and sharing choices you submit, plus limited technical and usage data needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use and share information
We use this information to authenticate you; scan, save, organise, and share recipes; prevent abuse; troubleshoot problems; and improve Recipe Scanner. We rely on performing our service agreement, our legitimate interests in running a safe and useful service, legal obligations, and consent where we ask for it.
We share only what is needed with providers that run the service, including our social sign-in providers, Resend for passwordless login emails, Google Firebase and Gemini, Netlify, Upstash, Unsplash, and Google Analytics when enabled. Recipe content is sent to Gemini for extraction. These providers may process information outside the UK under their own safeguards. We do not sell personal information. Recipes are public only when you choose to share them.
Retention and security
We keep account information and saved content while your account is active, and retain limited records for as long as needed for security, support, and legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and data deletion
You may ask to access, correct, export, restrict, object to the use of, or delete your personal information. To delete your account and associated data, email support@recipe-scanner.net from the email address connected to your account. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
